Recipe: Cheese Sauce
Wes and I are at home today and I was looking for something to complement our leftover Outback salads for lunch. I got it in my head that baked potatoes with cheese sauce would be good, but since I didn’t have a cheese sauce recipe I started looking through allrecipes.com. The recipe needed to be easy and something that I could put together with ingredients that I had on hand at the house. Here’s what I found and both Wes and I really like it.
I cut the recipe in half and only did step 2 for our baked potatoes. I threw in some diced chicken and served it over the baked potatoes. If I had some broccoli that would have been a great addition, so next time I make it I will be sure to throw some broccoli in. Here is the nutrition information I came up with for just the cheese sauce, using Kraft 2% mild cheddar cheese and skim milk.

Disk space cleanup
While installing some software over the weekend, I noticed my computer was starting to run low on disk space. In my current setup, I have a 116 GB drive and it was showing that I had only 10 GB free. What in the world do I have on my computer that is taking up 100 GB, I asked. You would think being an IT guy, I would have an answer to that… nope. But where do I start to look? Is it several large files, or old software I have installed taking up space? Windows does not really have a good utility for reporting disk space usage. I thought about writing a script to give me a basic report, but figured I would check the Internet via download.com first. What I found was WinDirStat, its free and does exactly what I want. I was able to remove over 40 GB of stuff I dont need/use anymore… problem solved!
Five Best Screen Capture Tools
Nice writeup from the folks @Lifehacker if you like to use screenshots (or portions thereof) to spice up stuff.
6-week Update
That’s right, today marks 6-weeks postpartum. I am officially 1/2 way done with my 12 week maturity leave!! It’s hard to believe that already 6 weeks has gone by. My oh my has time flown by, but maybe that’s just because I’m so exhausted
Yesterday I had my follow-up doctors appointment and got the “all-clear” from the doctor. They say I have healed well and am back to normal, except for the few extra pounds I’m still carrying as a souvenir from the pregnancy. Logan also had his “boy appointment” yesterday too. He did fantastic! I was fully expecting to receive a screaming baby when the procedure was done, instead he was SLEEPING! What a champ! Yesterday he was a bit fussy, but all things considered, he was great. Today, he’s basically back to business as usual. It’s hard to believe that something I was dreading so much turned out to be such a non-event.
Jim Gaffigan: Large Family
I’m from a very large family — nine parents.
Ron White: Calling Home From the Road
I call her. She tells me my dog, Sluggo, just took a dump on the new carpet. I’m like, ‘Shoot him.’ She goes, ‘That’s just like you, Ron. I have a genuine problem, and you’re being sarcastic.’ ‘Alright, honey, I’m sorry. Put the dog on the phone. I’ll talk to him.’
Little Johnny… Finding Jesus
A Sunday school teacher is concerned that his students might be a little confused about Jesus, so he asks his class, “Where is Jesus today?”
Steven raises his hand and says, “He’s in Heaven.”
Mary answers, “He’s in my heart.”
Little Johnny waves his hand furiously and blurts out, “He’s in our bathroom!”
The surprised teacher asks Little Johnny how he knows this.
“Well,” Little Johnny says, “every morning, my father gets up, bangs on the bathroom door and yells ‘Jesus Christ, are you still in there?!’”
Firefox 3 and Google Apps Email
Since I recently start using Firefox 3 and even more recently using Google Apps For Your Domain (GAFYD) as my primary email client, there has been one little annoyance I wanted to fix.
When coming across a mailto: link (a link you click on in a website to start a new email message) it would not bring up my proper email. There is a Gmail option in Firefox 3, but that is only for the public hosted @gmail.com addresses. I need something for GAFYD email, so I began searching.

If you have not heard the story of Susan Boyle on the TV show Britain’s Got Talent (similar to our American Idol) you really should watch this YouTube video.
I don’t get twitter, tweet tweet
I have noticed a lot of stories and news about twitter recently. A few of my Facebook friends are twitter diehards. Celebrities like Ashton Kutchner, some CNN hosts, members of Congress, and even Fast Money on CNBC (one of my favorite market info shows), are all using twitter.
I try to stay up and the latest technologies, but I must admit this is one I just don’t get. Normally I would hang my head in shame if members or Congress were progressively using a technology before myself… but in this case, I have tried to figure out how to make use of it, and it just doesn’t seem to fit for me and my very unexciting lifestyle.
Maybe I will grow to appreciate it more in the future, but as of right now, I have a hard enough time coming up with content for this blog, let alone micro-blogging. Quite honestly I dont think my friends and family are terribly interested in stuff I write about once a week or so, let alone a blow by blow account of how my day is going.
I don’t know what the future will hold, but I can say for sure right now, I just don’t get twitter.
