Logan Update – New Video!
It’s been a little while since our last Logan video, so I put this one together over the weekend. I hope you enjoy it!
Logan – 7 months!!
Can you believe Logan is already 7 months! On October 7th, Logan turned 7 months old. He’s getting to be such a big boy now and has had all sorts of accomplishments this month.
He finally rolled over for me! I was getting his bath ready and he was laying on the floor on his back. One moment he was just looking around on his back and the next moment he was on his tummy! I got to see the whole event and it was very exciting for me!
Logan started getting his teeth brushed this month. Well…maybe I should say tooth brushed. That’s right, Logan cut his first tooth. I noticed it on September 30th. He hasn’t appeared to be in too much pain. He is still sleeping through the night, although he was a bit more fussy last weekend.
Logan has been tooling around town this month as well. He had his first trips to the grocery store, furniture/appliance store, and the park. He seems thoroughly entertained to visit new places. I typically carry him around in the baby bjorn facing out and he just takes it all in. Afterward he just passes out in his car-seat on the way home.
Logan is continuing to do well with his solid foods. He actually opens his mouth in anticipation of the next bite now. He’s cut down on the thumb sucking during meal times which has made the whole event less messy. This month he’s tried green beans, prunes, and bananas. He also retried carrots and now seems to like those. There doesn’t seem to be anything that he doesn’t like to eat, but I did find that the order you feed him certain foods seems to matter. For example, he doesn’t want to get pears followed by green beans, but he will do green beans and then pears. So I’ve learned to save the sweet stuff for the end of the meal and then he does fine.
He’s continuing to improve on sitting up unassisted. He like to sit up and then reach out for toys in front of him. Sometimes he ends up tipping over, but for the most part he can keep himself up. He really likes to stand up on his feet. He’s now figured out how to take steps forward while holding your hands. He really thinks it’s fun. He’s especially grabby these days and seems to grab onto anything within reach. He even manages to pull my hair despite the fact that I got it cut soo short.
He has definitely started to notice Wrigley more and he thinks she is soooo cool. He is always trying to reach out and grab her and he always starts to giggle when Wrigley licks his face. Wrigley has been very tolerant of Logan grabbing her hair and pulling it out. It’s always great to see Logan with a handful of dog hair as he goes to put his thumb in his mouth…yuck!
Logan still loves his jumperoo, he’s finally figured out how to grab the parrot and get it in his mouth. He’s probably been planning that for a month now! His favorite toy is his giraffe . He’s finally started to appreciate those hanging toys on his Fisher Price chair. He enjoys sitting up, standing up, kisses on his tummy, he thinks it’s especially funny if you pretend to eat his hands/neck/belly/toes/etc, he likes his car seat toy, and still really enjoys songs/singing. Logan is such a well mannered baby, and he still rarely cries. It’s hard for me to think of new things he doesn’t like, but he still doesn’t like to get his hair washed or wait for food to be prepared.
Logan the Ladies Man…
Check out this picture of Logan making the moves on this unsuspecting little girl at daycare. Could it be that this is Logan’s first girlfriend??!! Let’s hope her dad doesn’t see this picture!
Logan – 6 Months!
On September 7th, Logan turned 6-months old. It’s hard to believe a 1/2 year has already gone by. Once again everything checked out great at his baby well visit. He’s continuing to grow and the preemie weight and height chart are now things of the past. It doesn’t seem possible that he was born 4 lbs 10oz, once you look at these numbers!
| Logan Stats | 40 weeks |
| Weight: 18 lbs 14 oz | 71% |
| Height: 28.5 inches | 96% |
| Head: 16.5 inches | 7% |
Logan is doing great with his solid foods. We got him a Fisher Price Precious Planet High Chair at Babies R Us last week. He’s eating a solid food meal three times per day now, breakfast and dinner with me, and lunch at daycare. So far he’s tried peas, squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, pears, and peaches. His favorite is sweet potatoes, and his least favorite is carrots. He recently started insisting that he is able to feed himself. With each bite he grabs hold of the spoon and put it in his mouth. He’s still working on that whole aim thing, but he’s definitely having fun figuring it out. He is still a thumb sucker, and he makes sure to suck his thumb between each spoonful of food. It gets messy, but I have to admit, it’s a bit adorable.
He is still loving his Jumperoo. Wes and I agree that so far that is one of the best investments we have made. He will jump around in that thing for 20 minutes or more if we let him. He has so much fun, he screams and laughs, and then he jumps like crazy. It’s really so much fun to watch. He gets extra excited to watch his daddy bounce and dance around, I think that’s Logan’s favorite thing to do now.
Logan saw his first football game with daddy on the first football Sunday of the season. They were both glued to the television. Logan is able to sit up unassisted very briefly. After sitting for a short time, he sort of just folds over and eventually will do a face plant into the ground. He’s started reaching out and grabbing for things that he wants now. He will pretty much grab anything in his reach and then try to put it directly into his mouth. He hasn’t started cutting any teeth yet, but he is starting to drool a lot and likes to chew on your knuckles and bite his fists. He’s figured out how to grab and take off my glasses now when I get up real close to him. He still loves being showered with kisses, and will start to giggle when kissed on the neck or tummy. He is still babbling a lot and will sometimes wake up in the middle of the night/early morning and just talk and squeal in his crib before falling back to sleep. He often talks his dad’s ear off on the way to daycare telling some fascinating story only he understands. He’s grown past his previous favorite word of “Oooooo-riginal”, and now is just happy to see familiar faces.
We finally got the 5-month pictures we took at JC Penny back. To take a look at the photo album click the link: Logan – 5 months old.
Logan Update – 5 months
Logan has been quite a busy baby over the last month! He is now on his second week of rice cereal and is finally getting the hang of it. Yesterday he finished his bowl (1/2 Tbs cereal + 2 Tbs liquid) and more of it seemed to go in his mouth then on the bib! Next week I will likely add a fruit or vegetable to his diet and see how that goes.
He is continuing to do well at daycare and they are constantly telling us what a big boy he is becoming. He’s staying awake longer now and can hold his head up enough to go in the excersaucer. They have also started to try to give him more time in his crib for naps during the day. It sounds like that is going pretty well. He’s started staying awake for the ride to and from daycare now. During the ride he tries to talk and suck his thumb at the same time, which turns out to sound like humming.
Last weekend we bought Logan the Fisher Price Precious Planet Jumperoo at Walmart. He absolutely loves it. His little feet can barely reach the floor, but he kicks off with his tippy toes and bounces around. He can spin the colored ball in the front and is mesmerized by all the lights and music that are triggered by his movement. He hasn’t figured out how to turn his seat yet, but I imagine that isn’t too far away.
We estimate that Logan is probably about 16.5 lbs now. He’s still sleeping 12-14 hours at night and only takes a couple short naps for us during the day. He has started to find his voice and will occasionally start screaming just for fun. He loves kisses and songs and likes to get carried around on a tour of the house. He enjoys watching his mom cook and has plans to be a good chef one day. His favorite word is “Ooooooo-riginal”, he almost always smiles and laughs when you say it and has even been known to say “oh” after you say it to him. He doesn’t like getting his hair washed or having to wait for food to be prepared.
This weekend we plan to get his photo taken at JC Penny Portaits at the mall near our house. We’ll be sure to post those pics once we get them. I’m still trying to figure out what we will all wear!
First Weekend Getaway!
A couple weeks ago we all had our first weekend getaway. Logan had his first trip to his grandparents house for the weekend, and Wes and I had our first nights away from Logan since he came home from the hospital. Everyone involved had a great time!
Wes and I stayed the weekend at the One Ocean Resort at Atlantic Beach in Jacksonville, FL. We stayed in a room with an ocean view balcony on the seventh floor of the hotel. The view was magnificent and we even caught the sunrise on the first morning we were there. We reserved dinner both nights at the Azurea Restaurant in the hotel. We really felt like our dinner was more then just a meal out, it was a culinary experience. The presentation of the food was beautiful and we were really impressed with how all the flavors on the plate came together. While we were there was also enjoyed a couples massage in the hotel spa.
Logan stayed with his grandparents in Jacksonville. He was a good boy for them, and only got up once each night he was there. He kept them busy by taking very few naps during the day, and staying up later then he normally does at night. It was a very exciting trip for Logan, he got to meet some new doggies, do some tummy time, read stories and get lots of thumb sucking in! He even got to meet his second cousins and great aunt and uncle while he was there as well.
Logan – 4 Months!
Logan had his 4 month baby well visit today and everything checked out great. He is growing like a weed and has definitely caught up with full term (40 week) babies in the weight and height growth charts! His head circumference is still on the small side, but the doc said it’s nothing to worry about at this point.
| 32 weeks | Logan Stats | 40 weeks |
| 97% | Weight: 15 lbs 9 oz | 60% |
| 98% | Height: 25.8 inches | 75% |
| 21% | Head: 15.5 inches | 2% |
Now that Logan is over 15 lbs, we have removed the pack and play bassinet. He is taking baths without the newborn netting in his baby tub. He’s also wearing 3-6 month and 6-9 months clothes, depending on the brand.
He has been given the green light to start solid foods now. He’ll start with rice cereal or oatmeal this weekend and then can move to veggies and fruit. For now he will eat solids twice per day and once he can sit up we will increase that to three times per day.
He’s still not sitting up unassisted or rolling over yet, but given his early arrival the pediatrician is not concerned about that. We’ve been instructed to give him more floor time on his back and tummy to help strengthen his neck and arm muscles. He’s smiling, talking, and laughing now. He’s taken notice of the tv and has started tracking things that move (like Wrigley and the kitties).
Logan has been a great night sleeper and usually either sleeps through the entire night or wakes up once around 4:00am. We haven’t had a ton of luck getting him to nap much during the day when he’s home, but figure we should just be happy that he’s sleeping through most nights already.
Check out the photo album to see pictures from Grandpa Wes and Miss Gail’s recent visit, Logan in his Bumbo chair and play mat, and Logan taking his first bath without the newborn netting!
My First Father’s Day
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of celebrating my first ever Father’s day. Logan (with some assistance from his day care) made a very nice footprint plaque with a poem on it (see picture). The “Footprints” poem:
Walk a little slower, Daddy,
Said a child so small
I’m following in your footsteps
And I don’t want to fall
Sometimes your steps are very fast,
Sometimes they’re hard to see;
So walk a little slower, Daddy,
For you are leading me.
Someday when I’m all grown up,
You’re what I want to be;
Then I will have a little child
Who’ll want to follow me.
And I would want to lead just right,
And know that I was true;
So, walk a little slower, Daddy,
For I must follow you.
I was very happy Logan took the time out of his busy schedule to make something so nice for me! Then that weekend Gr. Grandmom Barbie, Grandmom Jeannie and Grandpa Skip came down from Jacksonville for a visit. It was a really great weekend and it was great to get to spend time with family. Below are some pictures from that weekend.
New Swing!
Logan got a new swing today!! He enjoys the swing at daycare so much, we figured that it would be a good investment to purchase a working swing for home. On Sunday Wes jumped online and found the Fisher Price – Rainforest Open Top Cradle Swing. This swing is nearly 5 star rated and has 432 customer reviews. We were really impressed with how quick it arrived, with regular shipping the swing arrived on Wednesday!
Wes put the swing together right away and found the instructions very easy to follow. The swing is just awesome. It swings head to toe or side to side. The motor, mobile, and music are all independent controls, so you can have the mobile moving without the swing. The two legged base seems very sturdy, and the swing is very colorful and fun to look at. Even Wrigley wanted to check it out!
I think Logan really likes the new swing. We feel it was a huge upgrade from his previous swing which was drab in color and only had three white non-moving bears for the mobile. The Fisher Price mobile definitely caught his eye and he seems much more comfortable in the chair. He hasn’t tried the side to side motion yet, but I think he’ll like that little variation as well!
A Week of Firsts…
Today Logan is 3 months old (1 month adjusted). Wow, it’s hard to believe how fast time passes by. He’s started to smile more and is making more cooing noises now. When Wes and I weighed him on our scale at home, we estimated his weight to be about 12.5 lbs! He’s definitely growing fast. He won’t have an official weight and height check for another month.
Logan had a very busy week this week, trying to fit in all sorts of new things before he turned 3 months.
Logan started daycare on Tuesday. He eased into it starting his first two days as 1/2 days, with his first full day on Thursday. He spent a long weekend with mommy and daddy because the whole family took Friday off. Logan did great at daycare. He enjoys music, the swing, and the bouncy seat. His caregivers say he is a good baby and sleeps most of the day. On Tuesday, Logan received his first boo boo report. He scratched his right cheek with his finger nails. Since then mommy has been careful to check his nails every day to make sure they are trimmed.
Logan slept through the night for the first time on Thursday night! He slept for 8 hours straight from 9pm to 5am, and then went to sleep for another 2.5 hours after eating. It was a great night for mommy!

Logan at Ruby Tuesdays
On Saturday, Logan went for his first lunch out with mommy and daddy. We all went to Ruby Tuesdays and Logan was an excellent lunch date. He was either sleeping or sitting quietly in his car seat the entire meal. However, by the time we were finished he was eager to leave and let out a cry or two.
On Sunday, Logan went on his first walk with mommy, daddy, and Wrigley around the neighborhood. He enjoyed the time outside and took it as an opportunity to get some extra sleep.
Tomorrow Logan starts his first full week of day care. Hopefully mommy will handle the transition well. Logan doesn’t seem to mind daycare, and is always tuckered out when he gets home at the end of the day from all the fun he is having!
